Benefits of CIPP Repairs and Drain Relining
Repairing damaged drains and sewers promptly is crucial. However, excavating and replacing extensive sections of pipe can be inconvenient and expensive. Fortunately, there is an alternative solution, and in most cases, our preferred approach is to install a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) repair or liner, which is not only cost-effective but also minimises disruption.
Through CIPP relining, we achieve enduring fixes and enhancements to pipe interiors without the necessity for excavation, a method commonly referred to as 'no-dig technology.' In addition to addressing the immediate concern, CIPP prevents the likelihood of future issues in the repaired pipe for years to come.
We have the capability to conduct point-to-point repairs, wherein a new pipe is installed within the existing defective pipe, forming a watertight seal and providing structural support to any flaws within the system. This approach can be applied across large continuous sections of the drainage system and various diameters, addressing multiple defects simultaneously. It's a swift repair method that minimises disruption compared to excavation.
What is involved in CIPP pipe repair?
Utilising innovative 'no-dig' or 'trenchless' pipe replacement methods entail inserting a liner saturated with a special resin into a vertical or horizontal sewer or drain, suitable for pipes up to 1.8 meters in diameter. Once inside the pipe, the liner is inverted and propelled through using either water or air pressure, adhering to the interior of the pipe while the resin cures or hardens. This process effectively creates a new pipe within the old one, restoring the drain or sewer's integrity.
Upon installation of the CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) liner, any lateral connections previously identified are accessed and opened using advanced robotic cutters.
Utilising the CIPP method, we rehabilitate sewers and drains ranging from 100mm to 1,800mm in diameter, accessing the pipe from manhole chamber to manhole chamber. For localised repairs or shorter sections of the drain, we may utilize CIPP patch (or point repair) lining.
This involves placing a 'patch' (short section) of CIPP liner around an inflatable packer. Once positioned, the packer is inflated, leaving the patch to form a new lining in that section of the pipe. Multiple patches may be installed end-to-end for longer repairs.
